1st Jan 2010 : Celebrating the New Rice : Keren Village : Suphanburi

Respecting the tools
In this ritual, the rice that was grown, harvested and processed, the Keren people will give it to the tools to eat first as they respect their tools as the things that help them able to live and maintain lives.
I feel that they treat them as if they have the real souls ( and i guess they do ).

After this they give it to the old people....then the old will invite them to eat........

The rocks in their stove, kitchen are considered respectful things.....

The rice was also mixed with some meat....just like what we eat.....

Rice crunching - home made not factory made!
Not so easy to find now. Apart from being healthy from the rice, the kids also enjoy playing with it.So this type of architecture is not just a rice cruncher but also an exercising machine! Working and playing at the same time....
